Re: D54250WYK 'headless' issue?

Hi all,

I have to say that this problem is extremely vexing! We've tested both RealVNC and Teamviewer here and we are definitely able to view the "headless" NUC. So, what in the world is different on our systems compared to yours?

Let's start with the basics.

  • What versions of the remote software are you all using?
  • What networking configuration are you using - wired or wireless?
  • What version of Windows and bits (32-bit or 64-bit)?
  • Is this a brand new OS installation?
  • What other software is installed?
  • What type of system are you using for the server system? (Is it also a NUC?)
  • Do you see any errors in Device Manager on anything at all?
  • In Device Manager, how are the devices listed under both the Display Adapters and the Sound, Video, and Game Controllers categories? And what are the version numbers for each?
  • On the two systems (host and client), how are they hooked up to the displays (HDMI or DisplayPort; with a dongle or not; directly or through a receiver, etc.)?
  • Does the behavior change based on the sequence of events:
    • Boot the NUC without a monitor attached; then access it from the remote system
    • Boot the NUC with a monitor attached; then access it from the remote system; then remove the monitor from the NUC

Thanks,

Lois
