Okay, that's a different error (compilation failure for binutils) than the one discussed in this thread (fetching failure for kernel), so the fix will not work because it's unrelated
I see you've started a separate thread on this - way to go! - Re: Intel Edison Bitbake error frustrating binutils_2.24.bb, do_compile) failed with exit code '1', I'll take a look in the evening. In the meanwhile, please post the full error log, the file name will be provided in the error message.
