I have a similar problem with a Dell L702x laptop and an Intel SSD 530 240GB - this thread helped me realize that having an external monitor (on displayport) seems to be part of the problem. I'm on the latest DC32 firmware, and I have problems with the drive being detected after a cold boot. I have to remove the battery and all external connections to get it to be detected in BIOS.
Potentially related, coming out of sleep mode in both Windows 7 and Linux (dual-boot set up on the Intel SSD,) both OSes almost always lock-up quickly and require a hard power cycle. There is nothing in the system event logs to indicate what might have happened in either case. This happens both with and without being attached to an external monitor.
