I'll post all available information in this thread so there should be no excuse for a detailed response answering all my questions above and a date of when each of the issues will be fixed via software update as this is definitive proof there is a MAJOR PROBLEM with the rushed Windows 8.1 Widi integration which has left it virtually useless to consumers and is now nothing more then a marketing gimmick.
Operating System - Windows 8.1
Tested TV's - 50" Sony Bravia/ 46" Skyworth
Widi Device - Push2TV 3000 (FW 2.4.26 latest)
Drivers; All latest versions of Intel drivers.
This is how Widi is currently with a clean Windows 8.1 Install, notice the cropping of my TV and drastically lowered refresh rates which makes streaming unusable;
Here's an image of what my now non adjustable display looks like due to Windows 8.1, notice the missing toolbar due to the image being cropped with no way to adjust it anymore due to functionality lost within the Intel Control Panel...
In the next image you will see how after this so called "update" any resolution above 30hz is unselectable even though they are supported by the TV and every OS prior to Windows 8.1 RTM. Also the custom aspect ratio sliders are missing from the right hand side.
Now here is how Widi should act when plugging a HMDI directly from my laptop to the TV's in question;
Take note of the extra refresh rates which magically appear now we are using a HDMI cable (or older versions starting from Windows 8.1 Preview and lower with the Widi App)
Not only this but by using HDMI (or older versions of windows with Widi App) you can also customize the aspect ratio and by moving the horizontal slider to 50 I effectively fixed the cropping issue. If this is such an easy fix and previous versions of Windows in conjunction with the old Widi App can do this, why can't we do this now in the "Upgraded" Windows 8.1 Version?
Below you will also find reports for the same television hooked up to Widi and then HDMI. Intel needs to take responsibility for this issue, have it escalated to someone in your development team and get it fixed immediately. I would be more then happy for a lower level Intel developer to get in-contact with me to help debug the situation if need be, ignoring your customer base is not a way to fix an issue, do your job and get this fixed as 2+ months to get back to a customer is disgusting for a company of your size.
And on a personal note, joe_intel have you ever tried using the Widi standard yourself on Windows 8.1? I suggest you do and try and watch a video and see how long it takes you to give up using Widi completely due to the unbearable quality. I used to use my PTV3000 daily for streaming now its just gathering dust due the drastic quality loss from upgrading to Windows 8.1, so thanks for the waste of money Intel.
